My friends and I have been on quite the wine tasting kick this year--and this semester, specifically. I mean, we're second-semester seniors AND we go to school right in the middle of Virginia wine country (the next Napa?). Who could blame us? We're attempting to go to all of the Charlottesville wineries before we graduate, which is probably not possible (there are lots), but it's at least worth a shot! We recently went to Trump Winery and it was quite fabulous. Now, on to the next one...

getaway
For Christmas, A. gave me a little trip to an inn in West Virginia. We decided that the perfect time to go would be at the end of my spring break, so we went after I got back from Punta Cana. It was quaint and charming and exactly what the doctor ordered after a few exhausting days in the sun!

#sb2k14
Way back in November, my friends and I found an amazing deal on Expedia for Spring Break in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
We had a lot of hiccups in the journey, to say the least. You know how they say, "getting there this half the fun!"? Well, I can assure you that for this particular trip it was not. I'm not sure how I feel about more Expedia trips...or about returning to Punta Cana in general. But the company was fabulous and I was so happy to take in some much-needed Vitamin D. The perfect weather we had there has made the transition back into Virginia weather all but impossible, but what can you do?

Warmth and sunshine...WHERE ARE YOU?!?
in with the new
In starting this post, I came to the realization that I have been blogging for almost exactly four years now. Four years and 14 days, to be exact.
Except I have taken a lot of time off. I guess you could say I've had an incredibly on/off relationship with my blog. I've changed the name and changed the layout and changed a lot of the content. Every time, I had a plan to "get back into blogging--for real this time" and I made countless promises to write more often, to give the blog a facelift...to transform the on/off relationship into a permanently on relationship.
Well, none of that ever came to fruition. Finally, a few months ago, I changed the old blog to private--I am now the only one that can see the good ol' thing. I plan to change that soon...there are a lot of memories documented there and I don't want it to be private forever. But for the sake of starting a new job and background checks being run and all of those wonderful things, I decided that I didn't want that content to be as easily searchable as it was.
Turns out I have missed having a blog immensely. I know, I know--I never wrote or posted anymore...what was there to miss? I think it's just the idea of having the space...the ability to post pictures or write out thoughts (when they come). You know--like overpacking for a trip not because you actually need all of those clothes, but because you want to have the option to wear them if you want to (spoken like a true overpacker). A few weeks back, I was feeling incredibly inspired by two of my favorite bloggers and I decided that I for sure needed to start blogging again after graduation. I mean, it's the perfect excuse, no? I will be away from my family and all of my friends...starting new. What a perfect way to provide updates for those who may want them, right? Post-graduation (ugh...the G word) I won't be writing any more papers for school or reading boring texts. I won't be creatively drained (I hope)--instead, I will be in a new city with new people and new, fun books to read...new places to explore and new challenges to face. New things to write about and take pictures of...new things to fill me up.
Well, it's March and I clearly haven't graduated. But I've been on so many adventures lately and just feeling so many feelings that I was itching to get the show on the road. So until graduation, this space isn't going to be pretty...I might not even visit frequently. But when I do get the urge to edit and post some pictures or jot down some thoughts...I at least now have the space in which to do so.
Welcome to my new space. I will probably change the name soon. But for now, thanks for stopping by.
xx.
